5/16/2023 0 Comments Dog trainer nyc![]() After meeting and shadowing Kaelin on one of her New York trips she spent time in California apprenticing under her. Instantly she identified with the positive reinforcement training that Kaelin uses and her methods of training. With a desire to increase her knowledge of training she turned to social media where she found Kaelin's Instagram and YouTube pages. Upon graduation from the program and her university, she knew that she wanted to continue to explore her passion for dog training. Each day at her internship she felt a sense of purpose and joy in what she was doing. During this experience, Julia found a passion for seeing the growth of a dogs training, from basic obedience to challenging tasks. During her internship, she trained dogs for search and rescue, drug and bomb detection, apprehension and ovarian cancer research. In this program, she was given the opportunity to learn positive reinforcement training from the distinguished staff. In her senior year, Julia was accepted into an internship program with the Penn Vet Working Dog Center at the University of Pennsylvania. It was with these courses and many more that she continued in her pursuit of the right fit for her passions. During her time at her university she was able to take many interesting courses, some of her favorites being animal behavior, animal training and enrichment, and animal husbandry techniques. After working at a zoo Julia realized that the environment was not the right fit for her, however, she loved being able to train the animals she worked with. Julia had the initial goal to work at a zoo rehabilitating wild animals. This first experience with a dog really opened up Julia’s eyes to the attention and care that goes into owning a dog.Īfter high school, Julia pursued a degree in Conservation and Wildlife Management at Delaware Valley University. ![]() Casey had come from an abusive background, and Julia knew that she needed to spend extensive training time with her to make her comfortable and happy. When she was 9 years old her parents caved and they brought home a five-month-old Bichon Frisé puppy, Casey, who she still owns today. She was constantly asking her parents if their family could have one. Having a background in the arts, Sam's ability to read between the lines carries over in her ability to understand and nurture every dog's individuality.įrom a young age, Julia had a passion for dogs. Sam’s current canine sidekick, a hound/lab mix was rescued from Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue. She also plays music and has played in several bands, touring the US, Canada and Europe. In addition to hanging out with cuddly canines, Sam designs and handcrafts custom glass mosaic tile art. Sam's most rewarding aspect of dog training is witnessing the transformation of a dog's mental capacity to learn and apply the newfound knowledge in its everyday life. ![]() She enjoys educating both dog and owner, enabling them to strengthen their bond and bridge the gap of communication differences creating a wholesome, healthy and loving relationship. She is CPDT-KA certified and has trained and boarded all varieties of pups in NYC.Īfter turning in her CCI dog, Sam began her career in dog training. In 2016, Sam raised and trained a Canine Companion for Independence puppy, who graduated as a certified K-9 facility dog at the New Castle County Police Dept (DE). She is an avid lover of dogs, animals and the great outdoors. Sam is a native New Yorker who grew up reading James Herriot, with her dogs and pet rabbits. Sami Arthur is an All Things Pups dog trainer in the New York City region, servicing The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
