The demo for Renoise is also remarkably uncrippled, lacking only ASIO support and any kind of wav rendering. It is a workflow that is designed around giving you the highest amount of control and detail over your sounds and is deeply rewarding if you put in the time and effort to learn it. I think the tools and design of Renoise give it a significant advantage in the genre however. I do know there are lots of ways you can make breakcore style music in other sequencers. Renoise also lets you render any part of a song to a sample, from a single note on a single channel to an entire section, which is now its own instrument with all of the power of the entire Renoise sampler and pattern effects. The built in envelope editors are also quite powerful, and every native instrument (external vsts are handled a bit differently) in Renoise is also equipped with the same amount of power as any good sampler vst, with envelopes, filters, layering, looping, etc. With the latest versions, Renoise has excellent routing flexibility and many built in machines for useful sound design and automation. After getting proficiency in Renoise, you can compose and edit at supersonic speeds. Keyboard based control for everything is much, much faster than mouse clicking all your shit in. Want do have a drum sample switching between playing in the left and right channel on every hit while dropping in pitch while each note gets successively shorter and finally starts to retrigger? I just fired up Renoise to test this out and did it in less than a minute from an empty file. Sample effect commands in the pattern column can be extremely powerful, allowing you to arrange complex edits that would be tedious and difficult on most daws in a fraction of the time. You can also easily throw in multiple samples and have them mapped to a "drumkit" style mapping with one click, which is convenient. There is no RX2 support, but just render that shit to wav. Loops can also be manually triggered from any point, and each of those loop slices can be played at any arbitrary pitch.
